Two-day seminar on Indo Saudi Relations Through the Ages inaugurated by the Arabic Department of DU
The
Department of Arabic, in Collaboration with Culture Council University of
Delhi, organized a two-day seminar on “Indo-Saudi Relation: Through the Ages”
The Inaugural function of the seminar was held on 11th October
2023 in conference center, University of Delhi.
Prof. Ramesh Bhardwaj Vice
Chancellor, Maharishi Valmiki Sanskrit University graced the occasion as Chief
Guest. Prof. Bhardwaj in his address stressed on the Educational & Academic
Relations between India & the Arab World. He said that many Arab scholars
visited India and learned Indian sciences, he gave the example of all
al-Khwarizmi.
Mahesh Sachdev delivered the Key note
address. In his Key note address Sachdev said that India is the fourth
largest trade partner of Saudi Arabia, more over the relations between the two
countries started in fifties when Pt. Nehru visited Saudi Arabia After that
many heads of both countries visited each country which strengthened their
relations. He also said that the proposed corridor by G-20 summitt between
India Saudia Arabia & Europe will again strengthen the relations between
the two countries.
Prof. Ravinder Kumar Dean Culture, University of Delhi, Anoop Lather, Chairman Culture Council, University of Delhi & Prof. Amitava
Chakraborty, Dean Faculty of Arts participated in the programme as Guests of
Honor. Prof. S. Hasnain Akhtar Head Department of Arabic delivered the welcome
Address.
In his Welcome Address. Prof. Akhtar said that the relations between
India & the Arab World is Centuries old & Arabs like India & Indian goods very much. Prof. Naimul Hasan proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Mujeeb
Akhtar Conducted the proceeding of the Inaugural Session. After the Inaugural
session a film of Saudi Arabian folk dance was shown.
After the film first
academic session was held in which Prof. AyubNadwi from JMI
& Dr.Jajjati Pattnaik from JNU presented their papers. Dr. Asif Iqbal
Conducted the proceeding of that session. The third & fourth sessions will
be held tomorrow i-e 12th October 2023
