Denmark and India have very old traditional relations: Prof Yogesh

A delegation from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark visited the University of Delhi and discussed various issues like climate change. During this, the Consulate General of Denmark from the Innovation Centre in Denmark team were also present. DU VC Prof Yogesh Singh in his welcome speech said that India and Denmark have very old and traditional relations. On this occasion, Henrik Wegener Rector (Chancellor) of University of Copenhagen, said that we have an extensive history of partnership with India.

DU VC Prof Yogesh Singh said in his address that it is a matter of pride for DU to have a relationship with Copenhagen University, the oldest university in the world. While introducing the guests, the Vice Chancellor also presented a brief introduction of University of Delhi. He said that in its 100 years of journey, DU has expanded so much that students of the University are found in many countries of the world along with India. He said that about six and a half lakh students are studying in DU. The Vice Chancellor said that this relationship between the two universities will prove to be very beneficial for international students. He said that the University of Delhi is going to start joint degree, dual degree and joint research programs. International universities can also benefit greatly from this.

Rector (Chancellor) of the University of Copenhagen, Henrik Wegener, in his address said that the joint meeting with such a reputed institution of India like University of Delhi is a matter of pleasure for us. He presented detailed information about the University of Copenhagen through PPT. He said that their university is at 8th position in Europe. International faculty constitute 36% of the total academic staff at the university. 186 companies are formed every year by the university's students, researchers and new graduates.

On this occasion, the delegation also interacted with the deans/heads of departments of various subjects of University of Delhi. On subjects like Climate Change, Environment and Sustainability, Health & Life Sciences, Basic Sciences, Food and Agriculture, Dairy and Veterinary Sciences and Economic Law and Humanities, counterparts from University of Delhi and University of Copenhagen shared information about their respective university departments. At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Chandra Shekhar, Chairperson of International Relations of University of Delhi welcomed everyone. Vice Chancellor Prof Yogesh Singh traditionally honored foreign guests. In the second session of the program, there was a group discussion among the faculty members which was coordinated by the Director of South Campus, Prof Shri Prakash Singh. After group discussion of researchers and professors, the meeting concluded with a vote of thanks.
