DU has to take resolution to contribute to developed India: Prof. Yogesh Singh
Vice Chancellor of University
of Delhi Prof. Yogesh Singh said that the Government of India has taken the
resolution under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make the
country a developed nation by 2047. Now University of Delhi also has to take a
pledge to contribute to this vision.
The Vice Chancellor was addressing the
gathering as the chief guest at the inauguration of the library and seminar
room at Gandhi Bhawan of Delhi University.
On this occasion, Chairman Gandhi
Bhawan Management Committee and Dean of Colleges Prof. Balram Pani, Registrar
Dr. Vikas Gupta and National President of Rashtriya Kavi SangamJagdish Mittal
were also present as Guest of honour. After the inauguration ceremony, a
traditional feast was also organized on the occasion of Makar Sankranti and
Lohri.
While extending wishes on
Swami Vivekananda Jayanti and National Youth Day, the Vice Chancellor announced the launch of “Developed India @2047: Voice of Youth” portal. On this portal, youth
can present their ideas for the vision of a developed India.
He called upon the
students of University of Delhi that more and more students and teachers should
register on this and present their views for building a developed India. Giving
an example from DU, the Vice Chancellor said that from this academic session, University
of Delhi had made a provision to reserve one seat each for boys and girls in
each class for orphan students. Praising this initiative of Delhi University,
the government has called upon other universities of the country to make
similar reservationarrangements for orphan students. He said that if any good idea
comes from DU students or teachers for the developed India, then the Government
of India will definitely work on it.
The Vice Chancellor said
that Delhi LG VK Saxena has given approval for relocation/transplantation of
252 trees and felling of 15 trees for the proposed academic buildings to be
constructed in the North Campus of Delhi University. This will give impetus to
the construction work and these projects costing about Rs 935 crore will soon
become visible.
He said that whenever any work is done, mistakes also happen,
but there is a difference between mistake and crime. If a mistake is repeated
multiple times, it becomes a crime. He said that inclusive development should be
initiated from the university.
At the conclusion of the
program, Registrar Dr. Vikas Gupta expressed his gratitude. In his address on
this occasion, he said that the inauguration of the library and seminar room in
Gandhi Bhawan on the occasion of National Youth Day is a very auspicious event.
He assured the Vice Chancellor that University of Delhi will make its full
contribution to the vision of developed India @2047.
At the beginning of the
program, Director of Gandhi Bhavan, Prof. KP Singh welcomed the guests. On this
occasion Dean of Colleges Prof. Balram Pani, Registrar Dr. Vikas Gupta,
National President of Rashtriya Kavi Sangam Jagdish Mittal, Proctor Prof.Rajni
Abbi, DU Culture Council chairperson Anoop Lather, many teachers, officers and
students were present.
