Advisory committee meeting on DUSU elections
In the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU ) Election 2023-24 , the meeting of the Advisory Committee related to the election of various office bearers was organized in Delhi University. The director of the University's South Delhi campus, Prof. The meeting, chaired by Mr. Prakash Singh, was attended by Proctors , Chief Electoral Officers , Principals of colleges and member professors of the committee. Some important decisions were taken after discussions in the meeting.
A special committee consisting of four teams has been constituted to survey and prevent defacement of public property, especially in the campus area , around colleges across Delhi. This committee will work jointly with the Proctor's Office and the DUSU 2023 Election Committee on a day-to-day basis till the completion of the election process.
Code of Conduct for candidates of all student groups , Constitution of DUSU , Judgment of Hon'ble Supreme Court of India regarding Student Union Elections " University of Kerala v. Council , Principal Colleges , Kerala and others (Lingdoh Committee Recommendation)" , Hon'ble High Court of Delhi Order dated 29.05.2019 W.P. © No. 7824/2017 titled “ Prashant Manchanda Vs. Union of India and others (Distortion Case)” , advised to follow various election related rules like Delhi Prevention of Distortion of Property Act , 2007 and NGT orders , which are available on DU website Has been. Non-compliance of these rules will lead to legal action , including arrest of the violator and disqualification of the candidate from the election.
As per the decision taken in the meeting, the colleges have also been advised to enhance their security arrangements by deploying security staff especially during night time. The colleges may also approach the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of the area or the SHO of the area in this regard and also inform the Proctor's Office.
Media (Electronic and Print) has also been requested to give maximum space to news items to spread awareness to prevent any kind of distortion and violation of rules.
Schedule of DUSU and Central Council Elections 2023-2024:
1. Last date for receipt of nomination papers along with Demand Draft of Rs.500/- and Affidavit: Tuesday , September 12, 2023 by 03:00 PM.
2. Scrutiny of Nomination Papers: Tuesday , September 12, 2023 at 03:15 PM .
3. Publication of list of candidates duly nominated: Tuesday , the 12th September , 2023 by 06:00 PM .
4. Last date for withdrawal of nominations: Wednesday , September 13, 2023 by 12:00 noon .
5. Publication of final list of candidates: Wednesday , September 13, 2023 by 05:00 PM .
6. Election Date: Friday , September 22, 2023
7. Polling Timings: Day Classes: 08:30 AM to 01:00 PM and Evening Classes: 03:00 PM to 07:30 PM.
8. Counting of votes: Date , time and venue will be announced later.
