Prime Minister Empowers Women Entrepreneurs with Drones and Financial Support in a Historic Move



The Prime Minister participated in the "Sashakt Nari - Viksit Bharat" program, showcasing agricultural drone technology facilitated by Namo Drone Didis, at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Pusa, New Delhi. This gathering was marked by the participation of Namo Drone Didis from 10 different locations nationwide, who joined the demonstration simultaneously. During the event, drones were handed over to 1,000 Namo Drone Didis, symbolizing a significant step towards technological empowerment in agriculture.


Furthermore, the Prime Minister disbursed approximately Rs 8,000 crore in bank loans to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) at subsidized interest rates through Bank Linkage Camps organized by banks in each district. An additional Rs 2,000 crore Capitalization Support Fund was provided to SHGs, highlighting the government's commitment to strengthening women-led entrepreneurship.


This historic occasion celebrated the achievements of Drone Didis and Lakhpati Didis, underscoring their role in scripting new success stories and shaping the future of the nation. The Prime Minister commended the determination of Nari Shakti, stating that their success has inspired the goal of creating 3 crore Lakhpati Didis.


Emphasizing the importance of creating opportunities and ensuring the dignity of women, the Prime Minister remarked on his unique approach to addressing women's empowerment issues from the Red Fort, including sanitation, health, and economic independence. These initiatives reflect a deep understanding of everyday challenges faced by women, aiming to bring ease to their lives.


The government has introduced various schemes to support women at different stages of life, from preventing foeticide to providing financial support for entrepreneurship, which have significantly altered traditional mindsets towards women's roles in society. The transformative impact of drone technology in agriculture, led by women, was highlighted as an example of women's leading role in the tech revolution in India.


The expansion of Self-Help Groups over the past decade was lauded as a remarkable achievement in women's empowerment. The Prime Minister praised the significant contribution of these groups to nation-building and rural development. The assistance provided to SHGs, including increased financial support and banking facilities, has tripled their income and bolstered their contribution to rural infrastructure development.


The event also acknowledged the vital role of women in national campaigns and digital literacy, further solidifying the belief in the power of Nari Shakti. The Prime Minister encouraged Self-Help Groups to participate in the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana, ensuring they receive priority in this scheme.


Union Ministers Arjun Munda, Mansukh Mandaviya, and Giriraj Singh were present, supporting the government's vision of fostering economic empowerment and financial autonomy among women, particularly in rural areas. The felicitation of Lakhpati Didis, who have achieved success through the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission, marked a significant step towards uplifting and motivating other SHG members.
