Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs Observes Swachhata Pakhwada


The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs successfully concluded its Swachhata Pakhwada, observed from the 16th to the 30th of April 2024, aligning with the national calendar released by the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation. The Swachhata Pakhwada commenced with administering of ‘Swachhata Pledge’ by Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs on 16th April, 2024.


Throughout the Pakhwada, the Ministry undertook a comprehensive cleanliness drive, which included the review, recording, and disposal of outdated physical files. Departments within the Ministry identified obsolete items for auction and performed cleaning and maintenance of rooms and appliances at the ministry’s headquarters in Samvidhan Sadan. In an effort to foster a culture of cleanliness among the youth, the Swachhata Pledge was also administered to students at Kerala Senior Secondary School, Vikaspuri. Additionally, the school hosted an essay competition related to Swachhata themes, awarding winners with cash prizes and certificates.

The campaign wrapped up with a prize distribution ceremony where the top three Ministry sections excelling in Swachhata parameters were honored. In his closing remarks, the Additional Secretary, Dr Satya Prakash, stressed the importance of internal and external cleanliness and reviewed the diverse activities conducted during the Pakhwada. He encouraged continued adherence to cleanliness best practices in all aspects of life.

Umang Narula, Secretary of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, commended the enthusiastic participation of the staff in the Swachhata activities, emphasizing that cleanliness forms an integral part of broader organizational goals. He encouraged the staff to maintain the momentum of the Pakhwada’s achievements throughout the year.
