Kurukshetra University Champions Environmental Awareness with Mission LiFE Campaign

Kurukshetra University hosted a marathon, awareness exhibition, and extension lecture as part of the Mission LiFE initiative today, under the guidance of Vice Chancellor, Prof Som Nath Sachdeva. The event also saw the formal inauguration of the university's Eco Club activities, with an oath to uphold the principles of Mission LiFE being administered to all attendees.

Sachdeva highlighted the crucial role of youth in environmental conservation, emphasizing that Mission LiFE is evolving into a public movement aimed at steering India towards self-reliance and a closer bond with nature. He recalled that in 2021, India introduced the concept of an environmental lifestyle to the global community from the United Nations platform.

The event was a collaborative effort between World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) India and Kurukshetra University, supported by the EIACP program of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. As a further commitment to global environmental campaigns, all students will partake in the Earth Hour initiative on March 23, aligning with worldwide efforts for sustainability.

This initiative serves not only as an educational platform but also as a beacon of collective action towards environmental stewardship. By involving the university community in global events like Earth Hour, Kurukshetra University is setting a precedent for academic institutions to lead by example in the fight against climate change.

The participation of students and faculty in these events underscores the growing consciousness about the impact of individual and collective actions on the planet. It also reflects a broader commitment to integrating environmental education into the curriculum, preparing future leaders to prioritize sustainability in their professional and personal lives.

The Mission LiFE campaign at Kurukshetra University embodies the spirit of innovation and community involvement, driving home the message that every individual plays a vital role in achieving environmental sustainability. Through such initiatives, the university aims to foster a culture of responsibility and action among students, encouraging them to be champions of change in their communities.

In conclusion, the series of events organized by Kurukshetra University under the Mission LiFE campaign represents a significant step towards mobilizing the youth for environmental conservation. By engaging in meaningful activities that promote awareness and action, the university community is contributing to a larger movement towards a greener, more sustainable future. This initiative not only highlights the critical role of educational institutions in environmental advocacy but also sets a benchmark for others to follow in fostering a deeper connection with nature and promoting sustainable living practices.
