Election of members for DU EC and Finance Committee
Voting
was held for four posts of the Executive Council (EC) of University of Delhi
and one post of the Finance Committee on Thursday, March 28,
after the DU Court meeting. The time for voting for these posts to be selected
from DU Court was fixed from 12:15 pm to 3:30
pm. After that the counting of votes started from 4:00 pm.
In this voting, DU Registrar Dr Vikas Gupta was appointed as the returning
officer and Joint Registrar Dr Rohan Rai was appointed as the election officer.
Returning
Officer Dr Vikas Gupta said that in these elections, two candidates had put in
their nominations for Finance Committee Member and 7 candidates
for Executive Council Member. He said that out of total 525 voters,
347 cast their votes in this election. In the voting for
the Executive Council, 3 votes were found invalid and a
total of 344 votes were found valid.
According
to the final results, Monica Arora stood first by getting 150 votes
for the Executive Council. In this process, Rajpal Singh Pawar stood second, LS
Choudhary stood third and Aman Kumar stood fourth. Registrar Dr Vikas Gupta further
said that out of the total 347 votes cast in the voting
for Finance Committee members, 16 were found invalid. Out
of the remaining valid votes, JL Gupta has been declared the winner after
receiving 224 votes.
