Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor Appointed as Head of Training Command for Indian Air Force

TAKES OVER AS AOC-IN-C TRAINING COMMAND



Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor has taken over as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Training Command (TC) for the Indian Air Force on 1st May 2024. With a commission dating back to 6th December 1986 in the Fighter stream of the Indian Air Force, he brings extensive experience and a distinguished record to his new role.

A graduate of the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College, and National Defence College, Air Marshal Kapoor is well-prepared for his leadership duties. He is a Qualified Flying Instructor and a Fighter Combat Leader, boasting over 3400 flying hours.

Throughout his career, Air Marshal Kapoor has excelled in various operational, training, and staff roles. His operational assignments include serving as Commanding Officer of a fighter squadron in the Central Sector, Station Commander at a Western Sector flying base, and Air Officer Commanding at a key air base. His instructional prowess was demonstrated as Chief Instructor (Flying) at the Air Force Academy, where he played a crucial role in the induction and operationalisation of the PC-7 MK II aircraft. Additionally, he has contributed as Directing Staff at the esteemed Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.

His diplomatic skills were showcased during his tenure as Defence Attaché in Pakistan. Noteworthy staff roles have included Assistant Chief of Air Staff Operations (Strategy) at Air HQ, Air Defence Commander at South Western Air Command, and Senior Air Staff Officer at HQ Central Air Command. Prior to his current role, he served as the Air Officer-in-Charge Personnel at Air HQ.

Air Marshal Kapoor's exceptional service has been recognised with prestigious awards, including the Vayu Sena Medal in 2008 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2022.
