Agni-Prime Missile Soars in Successful Flight-Test by Strategic Forces Command and DRDO

Agni-Prime Ballistic Missile Triumphs in Flight-Test off Odisha Coast


The Strategic Forces Command (SFC) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) have accomplished a landmark achievement with the successful flight-test of the New Generation Ballistic Missile, Agni-Prime. The missile was launched from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast at approximately 1900 hrs on April 03, 2024. This pivotal test confirmed the missile's reliable performance through data acquired by various range sensors and two downrange ships positioned at the terminal point. The event was attended by distinguished personnel including the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Strategic Forces Command, and senior officials from DRDO and the Indian Army.


Rajnath Singh, the Raksha Mantri, extended his congratulations to DRDO, SFC, and the Armed Forces for their triumph. He emphasized that the successful development and induction of Agni-Prime will significantly bolster the Armed Forces' capabilities. Additionally, General Anil Chauhan, the Chief of Defence Staff, and Dr Samir V Kamat, Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, lauded the collective efforts of SFC and DRDO in ensuring the missile's successful flight test.
